We should be plain about this: the portraits are generated by an image model, not painted by a human artist. You send a photograph, and software trained on centuries of portraiture renders your cat in the Victorian manner, keeping its real colouring, markings and expression. A person reviews the results and runs the studio, but no one sits at an easel.

We say so here, and on the product pages, because you deserve to know what you are buying before you buy it. If you want a portrait painted by a human hand, there are excellent artists who will do that, and you should commission one of them instead.

By uploading, you confirm the photograph is yours to use — you took it, or you have permission from whoever did. You grant us permission to use it for the single purpose of producing your portrait and fulfilling your order. Nothing more.

Please don't upload photographs of people, anything unlawful, or anything you don't have the right to send. We may decline any commission at our discretion.

The finished portrait is yours to enjoy, print, hang, frame and give as a gift. You may share it online. If you want to sell it, or use it on products you sell, write to us first and we'll almost certainly say yes — we just want to know. We keep the right to our own brand, site, and the words on it.

Prices are in US dollars and shown on the product pages. Shipping is calculated at checkout and is not included in the item price. Payment is taken through Shopify at checkout. We try hard to price correctly, but if an obvious error appears we may cancel the affected order and refund you in full rather than honour a figure that was plainly a mistake.

Prints are made to order and dispatched by our print house. Delivery times shown on the site are estimates in good faith, not guarantees, and depend on the print house and the courier. We will always tell you where your order is if you ask.

The preview is free, watermarked, and offered for you to judge the likeness. Please don't try to remove the watermark or extract the underlying file — that's the one thing standing between a free preview and a paid product.

We stand behind what we sell, and the guarantee is the main way we do that. Beyond it, and to the extent the law allows, our liability for any order is limited to what you paid for that order. We do not exclude liability for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded.
